The service

Caption Search is a free search interface over publicly available YouTube captions. The service is provided as-is, with no uptime guarantee, warranty, or guarantee of accuracy. We may change or discontinue features at any time.

Captions and copyright

Caption text is produced and owned by the original YouTube creators. Caption Search indexes captions to make them searchable and links every match back to the original video. This is intended for personal research, language learning, and fair-use reference — not for bulk extraction, redistribution, or mirroring.

If you are a rights holder and want captions from a specific video removed from the index, email hello@captionsearch.app.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to scrape, bulk-download, or use the service to build a competing index. Automated or scripted access beyond casual browser use is not permitted.

Third parties

Playback uses YouTube's embedded player. Your use of that player is subject to YouTube's own terms.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Caption Search and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.
